I cannot believe we are already at the end of our first nine weeks of school. We have been busy, busy, busy learning about all things fall. Our first grade team does an apple switch at the end of September. We then go to the apple orchard where the kids get to pick some apples, a gourd, and go through a corn maze. We finished our day off with lunch at the park.
We are finishing up a bat unit right now. We started with a K-W-L chart to get the students to think about what they already know about bats. With our non-fiction bat books we worked on character analysis. The students LOVED Stellaluna. With the nonfiction texts we worked on targeting the new information they were learning. They responded to this by writing two interesting facts they learned about bats.
I have just posted another product:
Check it out!
That's all for now. :)

T Minus 2 days
I am working, working, working to get ready for conferences. I feel like my past week has been packed. I lived at the hospital for a few days with lovely husband, which meant no work getting done.
I'm okay with that though. We just cuddled in bed with our baby boy, and watched movies.
Last week at school we started doing nocturnal animals. We looked at owls, and began looking at bats. Since I left school early Thursday to get hubby to the hospital, and didn't go to school Friday, we didn't get much done with bats.
We are going to continue looking at bats these next two days before conferences.
So we read tons of books, both fiction and non fiction, about owls. I then introduced graphic organizers. We organized what we learned about owls. We are going to be making an OWL book this week. Owls are, can, and have. I will give this to their parents at P/T conferences.
Anyways- they learned so much about owls!
So proud of them :)
Each day when we do calendar-- we talk about how many days we've been in school which means that they are that many days smarter. :)
SO FOR A FREEBIE..
And let me leave you with this picture of my precious baby boy
WHY IS HE GETTING SO STINKIN' BIG!

Short and Sweet
Yesterday at school I get a phone call that my husband has been told to get straight to the hospital. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars. I rush home, get him, and rush to the hospital. After a few hours of testing, he is rushed in to surgery. Turns out his appendix had died a while ago, and had gangrene. He could have died within a few days. So nuts. Thank God he's okay.
Baby boy and I have been hanging out at the hospital all day with dad.

DONE
My Hidden Pictures activity is complete!!!
It is in my TPT store, so you can go buy it there. I can't wait to use this with my students.
They just love activities, and I know they always need more practice with numbers..
SO I had the greatest surprise today. While I was on lunch my mother-in-law stopped in and brought my baby boy to see me! All my kiddo's that saw him kept jumping up and down saying, "AWWW!"
Made my day as well as theirs.
Hope everyone is having an unstressful end of the first quarter of your school year! WOW.

Loving Fall
I love warm weather, but I am really loving this "beginning of fall" weather as well. I love the brisk air. It was just absolutely beautiful today. :)
We are working like crazy to get our kiddo's tested for the end of the first quarter. I CAN NOT believe we are already done with the first nine weeks of school. WHAT?! I feel like every spare second I have I'm calling another student back to have them count for me, or identify numbers, etc. Can't wait for this testing to be done so we can do some fun fall activities!
One of my kiddo's moms made my lovely hubby and baby boy matching hats! CUTEST thing ever. Just look at them:
Love my little family.
Anyways, I'm working on making a hidden pictures activity. I realize how much practice with numbers first graders need in order to keep them fresh in their head. I'm trying to think of new activities all the time to do with them.
I'll post them as soon as I'm done! Maybe I'll give a few away for free. :)
Enjoy this beautiful fall weather.

It's Only a Day Away!
I am just exhausted this week. I swear I have been sick for the past four weeks. It will NOT go away.
Baby doesn't feel much like sleeping these last few nights, so my body just has no time to heal. I am so ready for the weekend.
I think Hubby and I are going to Halloweekends at Cedar Point with my parents! Beyond excited for that. It will be good to take a break from thinking about school n.o.n.s.t.o.p.
I'm working on making hidden pictures activity based on practicing with numbers 1-120. I'll post that when I'm done. :)
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Failing
I am so failing at writing a blog. Oh well. My life consists of school all day, and baby all night. (Not that I'm complaining!)
Anyways-- just wanted to give a heads up that I created some free blogs:
Go download them.FREEEEFONTSSS
Busy day today because we have a field trip tomorrow! Woo hoo.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
